one very long night.

how 4 people (albeit being Bono & crew) can bring a whole city to a standstill still baffles me. 5pm on Friday afternoon saw Sydney city gridlocked. Why? 80,000 people were attempting* to rush out of work and to the Vertigo concert ~ the concert of the year.

* attempting being the operative word ofcourse. Because no one was actually going anywhere. Sitting in boonga's dad's old merc, we were passing time by trying to peel off the registration sticker without first wetting it with a sponge (hard work, man!). I'd already ruined 3 corners of the sticker and about to begin on the 4th when lo and behold, the car konks out. DODGY.

Herein begins one of the longest nights of the year...

5.30pm ~ not waiting for NRMA, pushed the car to the side of the road (completely expecting to be fined, and yes fined we were ~ $180!) and ran from the end of Sussex St to Wynyard station, caught a train to Central and ran to Surry Hills.

6.30pm ~ Got there! Sweaty! Scoffed down some awesome rissoto ala Ita, and waited patiently for a cab. Downed my first drink for the night.

6.35pm ~ downed my second. Running makes me thirsty!

7.00pm ~ Cab arrives and what should be a 15 minute ride becomes more like 40. Again I'm baffled by U2's ability to change the motions of an entire city! Talk about power.

7.50pm ~ Telstra Stadium. 80,000 people - where the heck is Frank & Jasmine? and is that seriously the line for Gate A?!

8.00pm ~ Found Frank & his lovely wife... started the lineup.

8.30pm ~ we're in. oh my God it is massive. and f*ck, we missed Kanye.

8.40pm ~
frank & boonga are getting drinks.. we take random photos.

9.00pm ~
the concert starts.... I'm mesmerized for 2 hours, so no photos!

11.00pm ~ the show is over.

takes us over 30 mins to walk out of the stadium... and can you even imagine what 80,000 people waiting for trains looks like??? not a chance if we wanted to get home by sunrise. Time to call backup.

11.45pm ~ Gene arrives in his trusty CRV to pick us up!

12.15am ~ home. well at Surry Hills anyway which is like my second home these days.

Ita steams some dumplings *yum*... itching to go out & party on! after some discussion we decide we're going out! *whee* need some gear, though.

1.10am ~ trying to catch a cab from Surry Hills to Newtown to collect some gear... felt like NYE - he who walks the furthest gets the cab! boonga & i may as well have walked home. damn the broken merc.

2.00am ~ drove back to Surry Hills. ready to go.

Partied @ Havana Club on Oxford Street.

3.30am ~ mariano is smashed. we get kicked out!!! sorry, he gets kicked out, we just left with him out of the kindness of our hearts *hehe*

we start the slow walk home, stopping to rest twice cos he's got no legs.

4.00am ~ home @ surry hills again...

the next couple of hours are a blur. i vaguely remember showering and getting into my trackies. and refusing to change out of them when we decided to go get boonga's dad's car.

6.00am ~ took a drive to Sussex Street to get the broken car. drove it slowly back to Surry Hills. with the ticket on the dash.

Lost time. more gear? yes please.

Time ticks away, before we know it, it's midday!

It's a gorgeous day outside so we decided to head out, a couple more drinks at a couple of venues including Pump House @ Darling Harbour. Who the heck sculls chambord at midday? I do!!

1.30pm ~ back to surry hills again. more lost time? definitely.

7.00pm ~ even though we've been naughty, Ita spoils us! Soft shelled crab & calamari for dinner!! To die for!!

watched some dodgy Saturday night tv, and decided it was time for the Segura's to get some quality time.

11.00pm ~ boonga & i head back to Newtown.

watched Independance Day! I always love that movie!

1.00am ~ it's Sunday morning. time to sleep.

Was that not the longest night ever?

I'm on a roll with this post so I'm gonna keep on keepin' on!

Slept like a baby through til midday. Woke up surprisingly fresh and ate some yummy french toast with strawberries & banana @ Urban Bites. After brunch, boonga & I attempted to car shop down Parramatta Rd but no luck, ended up in some swanky cafe called Cee Cee in Surry Hills, drinking a lot of watermelon juice. Damn that unquenchable thirst!

Managed to check out the Newtown Festival (really cool ~ must make a day of it next year!) and had dinner with mel & cam.

10.00pm ~ home and in bed. super thanks to boonga for the U2 concert, it was unreal.

Before I go, here's my favourite photo from the weekend. How straight do i look compared to those 2?!?!?!
