mel's surprise birthday

So, we've now discovered that Cam is totally romantic, and Mel doesn't say I Love You.. she swears instead.

Friday was Mel's birthday and Cam organised a surprise dinner for her. We pulled it off great too! Mel emailed me earlier on Friday asking what I was doing that night. I fed her the usual "oh not much, gym, home..." and HAH she believed me! Suckerrrrr....

We got there early to help "set up". This involved flicking rose petals lightly over the tables, leaving a rose petal trail... and finishing with a beautiful rose petal heart at Mel's seat, surrounded by candles. It was so sweet, so romantic.

And then we waited. We wasted the "Surprise!!" twice (as you do) and then eventually Mel came through the door. What followed was really not for kiddies ears... in the midst of her shock (and hopefully some pleasant surprise as well), all that came out of her mouth was "Cam! You fucker!! YOU FUCKERRRR!!!"... aaahh.. yeh hehehe....

Anyway the rest of the night was great - yummy food, very funny people... we didn't go clubbing with the rest of them but anyway, I hope Mel had a great time.

Happy Birthday chickie! I will catch up to you soon, old lady... xox

Memoirs of a Geisha

I watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. I haven't formulated an opinion about it yet though... I'm not sure if I think the story line was slow? Or was it just poignant? Was the set artistic? Or just too red? Was the acting.. over acted? Or was it dramatic? Was Zhang Zi Yi acting? Like seriously??

Anyway, it kept me occupied for the 2.5 hours - and I only felt the need to get up and muddle around the kitchen looking for snacks (oh, I watched the dvd at home) twice during that time so I guess it scored pretty well in terms of entertainment. I was really just hanging out to see if Gong Li (who plays a perfect evil villain - and looking very hot) was going to fall flat on her face, considering those ghastly shoes they have to wear!

tired

Tired. Don't know why though.. I slept well last night and woke up at 7am bursting with energy (yep, I'm a morning person...) but right this moment I am feeling so drained. I've had a couple of heavy meetings today, lots of people making my brain think. How rude. I'm having one of those moments when you literally have a million things running through your head that you get them mixed up, or you don't know when to stop and just focus on the one thing.

I need to go for a run and clear my head.

Sometimes I make easy things hard for myself... not sure why? Sucker for punishment. I think Leon would agree with me on this one.

valentine's day

Instead of spending lots of money supporting this uber commercialised hallmark day, this year I decided to put all my effort into using this day to raise some much needed funds for the Starlight Foundation. I sought out a number of donations from such generous companies as Roses Only, managed to purchase some flowers at cost price... and then started the raffling. In all I raffled over 450 tickets, and raised $670 for the children of the Starlight Foundation.

For myself, the winner of the 40-rose bouquet gave me a single red rose, which now adorns my stationery holder. Hehe... I feel so good about doing something for the community....

Happy Valentine's Day for tomorrow...

clairvoyant me!

I have this workmate who I haven't seen since December cos he works out onsite in Chatswood. So anyway, haven't seen, talked to, heard from, thought about this guy for months and months. And then this week I had a dream about him... I dreamt that he came to visit me, because he'd just come back from a long trip and wanted to tell me about his trip.

Normal dream, nothing exciting, certainly nothing worth noting.

Then yesterday afternoon, I heard his voice - looked over the partition and there he is! And he says "Hey Cat, how's things?....... I just got back from East Timor......"

Weird. So very strange.

Yeh yeh it's a coincidence, you sceptics. But still, very coincidental coincidence, wouldn't you say?
