the theme is.. B!

i had so much fun with last week's food blog, i decided to do another themed post!... and the lucky theme is B!

betsy boo

betsy is one cool cat of a chick. we've been mates for 3 years and she's been my rock through all my highs and lows, professionally and personally. she's the glue that holds a lot of things together ~ especially my love life dramas *hehe*

Friday was betsy's last day at Didata ~ she's off to nurse a long running illness which has dogged her for the past 12 months, and we all wish her a safe recovery.

I'll still see her socially (hey i saw her on Saturday! *haH*)... but when I take a trip down to level 3 and see that empty seat, i know i'm gonna feel a little pang of nostalgia.

note: apologies for the old photo, many a happy snap were taken with betsy's camera last week, so when i get my grubby hands on them, i'll do some serious posting.

photo update ~ here are some pics from lunch @ The Australian..

brawn

if there were only men in this world, wars would be settled with good old fashioned arm wrestling! thankfully there are chicks around. If nothing else, at least we're there to take photos of the men while they pump testosterone through their biceps!

daniel is officially the king of the brawn.

"no more papparazzi please!!" he squeals!

bongs

photos for this section are preeeeeetty incriminating so none to be seen! a certain king of the brawn brought over his special* instrument on saturday night along with some crazy apple tobacco & other happy tobaccy. being the good girl that i am, none was taken and i watched the others in fits of giggles ~ very entertaining!

* special it was - handcrafted from india... beautiful work of art... pity about its usage!

beach!

4 sleeps til Whitsundays....

food fun & frivolities!

This past weekend was all about food… the fun and frivolities were just a bonus! Friday night kicked off with a couple of drinks as usual ~ Belgian Beer Café followed by Arthouse ~ but the real fun began when I went with Karen x 2 & Fiona to Sheraton on the Park for Good Food Month’s “Sugar Hit”. For those who don’t know, during Good Food Month, a select few hotels offer a dessert tasting plate with a glass of dessert wine for only $15!

Yummmmm to the little pavlova!

Saturday morning I met up with Kate and Tatiana for brunch @ Urban Bites. Toast with mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and onions… and picking off Kate’s yummy blueberry pancakes.. Scrumptious!

Full from brunch (is brunch after 12 just lunch..?), I skipped lunch and met up with mel for banana bread & a hot chocolate in the afternoon… I gotta say, not sure if it’s just cos I was having a good food weekend but even the banana bread was good! And I don’t even usually rate the stuff!

Saturday night saw 2 big events.. Geno’s girlfriend is back from Korea! *whee* and this special night also saw my inaugural initiation into dinner at the Segura home. Little missus Segura is a chef @ Longrain and I’ve heard many a story about the unbelievable artwork she creates. Seeing is believing ~ I’ve never had anything homemade that looked so devine and tasted even moreso. To top off the meal? mariano made an apple crumble from scratch, paired with homemade palm sugar ice cream.

To. Die. For.

The rest of the evening involved a serious amount of alcohol (sake, red, plum, beer, vodka, gin… and everything else!) and other goodies… leading to the massive amounts of fun, frivolity & bad bad photos!! We even had a robot show us how to do the robot. Incredible!

off the market!

Can you believe it! after 5.5 years, Leon is finally off the market!

Gathering all his courage (and despite some last minute nerves, potential change of plans and calming of the nerves with chicken nuggets - as you do) my very best friend proposed to his girlfriend angela last night on board The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. She said yes ofcourse... and the rest is history!

I remember clearly the night that they met.. good old Margeaux - and i almost ruined it by giving her the once over, more than once!

Congratulations buddy... so happy for you! *takatakataka*

mmm korean bbq...

my friend Khanh was in Sydney yesterday and because these kiddies from Brisbane are completely deprived of good Korean BBQ, we headed down to a little joint I know, hidden in a little alley... which makes the best korean bbq ever! Look at our hotplate! mouth watering man!!

after we were stuffed from dinner, we headed down to Eastbank @ Circular Quay.. and stuffed our bellies some more with tiramisu and ice cream.. *yummmm*

my evening was completely shattered though when I found out Bobby Flynn was voted out of idol! What THE! Like seriously man... I almost spat out my ice cream when I got the sms.. and we all know how much I love my ice cream!

Glorious Monday!

I haven't felt this perky on a monday in a looong time. Having had massive weekends the last 10 weeks in a row*, I've been so used to being so totally scatty on mondays that this morning I just did not know what to do with my excess energy. I got up early, happy to go to work (am I loca?!) ~ quite a contrast to my usual suicidal monday self!

Having said that it was quite a jam packed weekend anyway, always lots going on with little catti!

Friday ~

I decided to have a quiet Friday night and went home at 6.30pm after one and only one drink at work. boonga and i had dinner in Newtown - which was crap by the way, possibly the thickest, dryest, eekiest pizza i've ever had!

During dinner, yianni calls and convinces me to come by Opera Bar for a drink. I'm like.. "no.. no.. uhh yeh ok"!!! Why am I so easily convinced?!?! dammit!

So off to Opera Bar, it was a gorgeous balmy night to be outdoors, and I got to catch up with Kareen who i hadn't seen in more months than I can count...

... and I was a good girl - home by midnight!

Saturday ~

Up bright and early! I took a drive out to Strathfield at 8am (yes, i am loca!) and accompanied Geno while he took his baby dog Angel to the vet. She is SO cute! After delivering her home, we had a big brekky in Burwood. Gene and I eat together, thats our thing *hehe*

After walking off the big fat breakfast, it was time to beach it! Saturday saw Sydney sweltering in 37 degree heat - Roberta and I hit Bronte, which was chock full of everyone! It was perfect! The only down side? seems all the good looking lifesavers go to Bondi - we got the fat hairy duds *boo*

Got home at 4pm... Saturday afternoon in 5 words - shower, aircon, couch, dvd, snoooooooze.

Before I knew it it was almost 8pm and shiiiitteeee i gotta be at the Red Room by 9! No outfit in mind, hair outta whack (face was outta whack too really) - threw on my black jeans and a black top ~ thank God for black! ~ and out the door! Partied with Babs, Brett, Pete, Brian and some others...

I was supposed to meet some other friends at Candy's Apartment but for once.. i said no! *wheee* ... ok granted it was only cos my feet were killing me!

... again, good girl... home by 2am.

Sunday ~

Easy Sunday... yumcha with boonga, maz, ita & a couple of others, followed by some wandering around the city and lazing around maz & ita's place. I was delivered safely home late afternoon and literally spent the rest of the night horizontal on my couch.

And here we are on a Monday, fresh! Love it!

ps - happy birthday to Belinda, May Lin & Krazy Ivan over the weekend!

* ok so I lied in my last post - we didn't have a quiet night in, we had a big night in.. *tsk tsk tsk*... but we did watch cartoons!

baby's back!!!

My camera is home! Quick huh? After much debacle with Canon (almost causing me to pop a vein last Friday) and coming down hard on some guy called Keith (poor Keith didn't seem all that bright)... my job got bumped up the list and it's fixed bay-bee!!! *sweet*

The bad news? I realised that whilst the LCD was broken, people were playing with my camera, pressing buttons here and there without thinking much about what was happening behind the broken screen. Very sadly most of my photos from last weekend have been deleted ~ i have all of one photo left from Godskitchen. Several from Parklife tho, here's a sample!

My one and only photo from Godskitchen! Well at least there's proof that Maz, Ita and Gene were there!

After last weekend's effort, had a chilled one this time. Besides standard work drinks on Friday night, Saturday was spent wandering the markets with little melissa and spending a quiet night in with boonga watching cartoons! Sunday I reluctantly met my cousin for lunch (don't ask) then home for more restin'! Love it!

In other news, 3 weeks til Whitsundays and Ying & I have just booked accommodation tonight!

Not. Happy. Cat.

So. there will be no photos of the big weekend because my camera is broken. Yep, broken. I've just discovered it now - and i am about to CRY. The screen is completely cracked! F*&%!

In my scatty state today, I was excited to post all my photos from Parklife and Godskitchen.. but now I can't... and it's making my very blue day even bluer... my camera - you guys know how much I love that thing! YOU love that thing - cos now my blog will be rather black and white and full of nothing but text!

Anyway, in a nutshell then... Parklife was amazing, the setup was amazing, the stages were amazing, Stanton Warriors ~ amazing! I stayed til it ended @ 10pm, rushed home got changed and off to Godskitchen! The line was long, the dance floor was a sauna but the music more than made up for it. Cosmic Gate ~ awesome! Above & Beyond ~ i love you!

I think I've lost at least 2kg's from dancing and sweating... yum.. hehe...

Well, apologies for the lack of photos... I'll try and do something about that asap.
