gong xi fa chai

Hey guys... Am totally snowed under at work, no time to write lots or post up fancy pics, but just wanted to wish y'all (I noticed Dr Phil says "y'all" a lot) a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year! Tis the year of the Dog so behave or some ancient Chinese God will set a pack of rabies infested wild dogs loose on your ass.

Gong Xi Fa Chai!

my play area

Someone said my desk at work looks like a 4 year old's play area. You think? Mr Grumpy, Grover, Elmo and Bubbles the Hippo are here for very good reasons. They represent my mood on any given day, so people know how they should approach me that day, or if they should risk approaching me at all! Mr Grumpy speaks for himself. Talk to me and I will grump you to death. Grover is for when I'm feeling childish and silly, and I may give you some wacky stupid answer to your very serious work questions. Elmo means its cool, I'm happy, talk to me. Bubbles the Hippo.. hmmm he doesn't do much to be honest. He's cute though. Oh, I also have a Pinocchio pencil (behind Mr Grumpy, almost up his ass) which is for when I have to put on my Sales hat and bullshit my way through the day.

Black Friday

Well, it's almost 6pm on Friday the 13th and besides being notably gloomy outside, nothing much bad has happened. Touch wood. Actually, I haven't yet decided if I'm going out to meet my friends for drinks tonight.. decision pending the fact that it's rainy outside... and.. oh yeh, the other reason is a bit superficial but relevant nonetheless - I'm having an ugly day today.

Today was one of those days when you wake up and though you have a wardrobe full of clothes, have absolutely nothing to wear. I threw on my jeans (a given on a Friday) and searched for decent tops, eventually settling on a loose, black somewhat hippie like top (low cut, bunched under the boobs and loose around the waist). I wasn't completely happy with the choice of outfit but it had to do, I had to catch the damn train to make a 9am meeting.

All day I've been feeling kinda average about myself and then, this dude comes up to me and says "hey are you pregnant?" (and no it wasn't followed by the "do you wanna be?" pick up line)... "Your tops makes you look pregnant". Yeh. So.. I'm ugly and pregnant. I think I'll go home and crawl under my doona.

Today has officially been black'd and 13th'd enough for me....

resolutions & pavlova's...

Resolutions. I only really have 3 resolutions for this year.

The first is to truly excel in my career. Up until 3 years ago I was in marketing and doing so well that I was offered a number of different roles when I moved to Sydney in 2003. At that time I thought it was a wise decision to branch out into Client Services and then Projects. Nu-HUH. Big mistake.. for 2.5 years I've been doing work that I haven't been happy with and hasn't challenged me. So this year I'm back in marketing, back doing something I love... so I'm going to make this year a fabulous year at work!

The second is to get abs! Hehe... well one of my resolutions for 2005 was to get fit and lose weight and I think I did that pretty good.. so now, abs. Good stuff.

The third is to save money. Hmmm.. this has been a regular on my resolution list since I got my first job at 14, and I've never really blitzed it so.. I've just gotta add it for sentimental value....

Oh and a side resolution is to keep eating as much pavlova as I humanly can... pavlova's in all shapes and sizes! I think I can do this one with my eyes shut!

Happy New Year!

It's the first day of 2006, and Sydney has officially had it's hottest day ever. Seriously ever (well, since they started recording the weather in like 1890-something anyway). 45 degrees celcius man. And those of you reading from London, I'm sure you're all loving your minus 20 degrees at the moment! I wish I was there with you!!

Anyway, Happy New Years everyone! New years is a great time to clean the slate, reflect on the year that has been and create some new resolutions for the coming year. I hope everyone enjoyed their NYE celebrations. Me, I had a handful of friends at my stinking hot place, had a small BBQ, and played some poker. And for the first time since possibly last new years, I went to sleep when the sun was well and truly up... hehehe... so yeh, guess it was a success!

By the way, for more pics of NYE, Port Stephens and other various events, check out my webshots page.
