Wedding Crashers...

We saw Wedding Crashers last night... seriously one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. In several scenes I was laughing so hard my back hurt, my front hurt and I had tears in my eyes. I don't know if it's a combination of Owen Wilson's ridiculous nose and Vince Vaughn's sorry-ass lines, but that movie is definitely a hit. I'd watch it again right now, and will probably buy the dvd. Very very very funny. Rachel McAdams was beautiful as usual (I fell in love with her in The Notebook) and Isla Fisher... hehe.. go Aussie go!

On a side note, I still can't decide if Owen Wilson is cute. He has that munted nose, which I'm sure adds to his appeal but is he cute? When there's nothing else to ponder, I waste my brain space thinking about stuff like this. Strange...

Today I decided to catch up on some dvd's that Al had seen but I haven't (mostly because my bedtime is 11pm and his is circa 2am). I was choosing between Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Cellular. Geez was I glad I chose Cellular! Guess who's in it? Chris Evans!! I can't believe I let this fact slip right by me. Next time I have a celebrity crush I really should read up on their filmography so that I can stalk properly. Anyway so I watched Cellular... it's a pretty average movie, and he's not as uber-hot in it as he is in Fantastic Four, but it was still eye candy on a quiet Sunday afternoon. No complaints there!

my apartment.. finally!

I have finally processed some photos, albeit terrible in quality, of my apartment. Please forgive the grain-effect of the photos - this is what you get when you (a) scan from a hardcopy photo and (b) scan to paint instead of photo editor. But anyway here they are! Incase you haven't worked it out, the pics are of my living room (couch with loads of cushies, tubby chair, beanie chair, 2 cubes, coffee table, lamp & lamp table)... kitchen (half of it anyway) and balcony (with a view not of a parking lot.... quite deceiving really because there actually is a parking lot across the road from my house - again).

Here's just another pic to kind of show you how the living room relates to the kitchen. To the right of this area is my doorway/entrance. So basically, as you enter my apartment, to the direct left is my laundry room (which is more like my beer storage space at the moment). As you come in, you pass my shoe rack, and Billy Bookcase and enter the living/dining area.

My room looks just like it always has, so no need for pics there. I have ample space in my apartment at the moment and am contemplating buying a dining set but as always, its a money thing. Plus I'm perfectly happy eating at my coffee table at the moment.

So that's about all for now. With any luck I'll be in this apartment for a little while, so come visit! I've bought a heap of furniture and whitegoods since my last place and I am not looking forward to moving ever, so if I had my way I would live here forever. Paying rent forever doesn't seem very alluring though.

timing...

An old buddy emailed me this morning telling me that her soulmate has just gotten engaged. Sounds like unrequited love, I know, but it's a little more than that. My friend has been almost getting together with this guy for, oh, just the past 10 years or so, but each and every time something could have happened, timing stepped in and ruined the union. She's always wanted him, and he's always wanted her - but through their late teens and twenties, they've never managed to get it together. All due to bad timing.

There's been times when she's dating someone else, then he was dating someone else, then she was going overseas, then he was travelling for work. And in a cruel twist of fate, the one and only time they almost went out, she was strickened with a really bad flu. Date was cancelled and as you would have it, he was off overseas the next week. Sounds like a movie!! But no happy ending here, or at least not yet. As time wore on, I guess they grew up and maybe moved on. He's now apparently engaged to be married to someone... and she's still longing for their first date. I'm not sure what's the deal on his side these days... I wonder if he still wonders about what could have been.

This beckons the long standing theory that it is all about timing. Some believe that there is only one person for each of us, and we will beat the odds of timing to find this person (even if we are 65 and in need of viagra by then). However, those who believe in timing (as opposed to the one) believe that for each of us, there are several people out there who could all fit the mould of the one, but it's the one who shows up at the right time (when you're ready to throw in the partying towel and settle down) that ultimately becomes your life partner.

I'm not sure where I stand on these theories, I think I'm going to sit on the fence and be a double dipper. Although I believe that timing is nine-tenths of how relationships blossom, if it is truly meant to be, it will be.

Probably not what my friend wants to hear. But though fate seems to have dealt you a cruel hand, you can't fight it. When one door closes, another opens.

Besides, he's not actually married yet!!

it's all about the hormones

Research shows that at different periods during the month, women are attracted to different kinds of men. While we are most fertile, we are apparently more attracted to the more masculine, bigger, rougher men - supposedly they exude testosterone, and at that fragile period, we're instinctively looking for a man who can protect our young. And at our less fertile periods, we are attracted to softer and more feminine men. God knows why.

So I guess that explains why right now I find Chris Evans completely and utterly desirable, and maybe in a couple of weeks I'll be back to my Johnny Depp phase again. And then there are people I always lust after, no matter when - Paul Walker.

I was thinking this theory probably also explains PMS - I mean, if we're picking more brutish men just prior to that time of the month, ofcourse we're gonna get more pissed off by their stupidity! Although one can argue that they don't have to be brutish to be stupid hehe... but let's not go there...

Please scroll back up and remind yourselves how devilishly delicious Chris Evans is. There you go. Naughty once more!

something cute

I'd like to introduce you to my friend Kerry's little baby pup, Sasha. She's a teeny tiny little sharpei and isn't she the most adorable thing ever?? Don't let Raffy hear me say that, but seriously, is Sasha not the most darling thing in the world.... Kerry also owns Sasha's big sis Mia (from a previous litter) and Sasha has been following Mia around like a bad smell. Apparently she travels under Mia's belly (kinda like baby elephants) and it annoys Mia cos she can't find Sasha.. haha... cute....

highlights from my weekend

well it was another fairly quiet weekend for us. I guess anything that doesn't involve drinking to a stupor until 5am constitutes a quiet weekend. highlights from the weekend include:

  • yummy sushi train for $2.50 a plate on Friday night
  • a quiet drink with the boyfriend at Star Bar, an old haunt we used to frequent (extra points for the highlight because we got to hang out in the non-smoking section *yay*)
  • watching Fantastic Four - corny, brainless, but fun to watch. Johnny Storm is a cutie!
  • shopping at Birkenhead Point on Saturday, purchasing an Ojay jacket from $289 down to $75! yes, I know I know.. I'm buying too many jackets these days but at these prices, how can I say no??
  • Paul's house-"cooling".. what great food and so good to catch up with friends.. although I did fall asleep on the couch before midnight (and before a one year old baby). Oops.
  • sleep in and watching 5 hours of dvds on Sunday.

the weekend was great.. and I took some old school pics of my house! now I just have to waste the rest of the film and scan the pics. I'll get around to it this week...!

welcome to the quarter century Leon!

another one hits the big 2-5. Happy birthday Leon!! I hope you have a wonderful day today and I know you're reaaaally busy with your upcoming move to Melbourne but it's all good, you're still cool. and so incredibly sexy! what are best friends for right?? your life seems to be taking an exciting turn this year. maybe 2005 is the year for you to leave your mark on the world. if nothing else, the move to Melb means you can watch The Lion King again!

Happy 25th Birthday again... you rock!

In other breaking news... I won tickets to the Boyz II Men Legacy Concert - here in Sydney Sept 9th!! Can you believe that? I enter competitions all over the place but never ever really expect to win anything better than a couple of movie tickets! I got the tickets last night in the mail and I thought it had to be a hoax or something so I called up Ticketek and double checked that they were actually genuine tix, and they were!! At $99 a pop, that's not half bad! Now I have to dust off my "II" album and learn all the songs all over again. Can't wait.. should be an awesome show. Random are the support act hehehe... secretly I really like them too..

Having a busy day and craving a pork roll for lunch. So I'll check back with y'all later!
