meet the fockers

as i recall, the sequel to Meet The Parents was, what? Meet the Fockers? Well, here's hoping that my parents won't be fockers this weekend when yes, I bring the boy home to meet them!

It's been almost 4 months since I met his parents, and now we are ready for round 2. There are a myriad of similarities between Robert De Niro's drill-sergeant-dad and my own dear father. Strict, rule enforcing, militant pessimism. I think that about sums it up!

But, me of much faith, I am counting on panu's incredible charm to win my dad over. I think he'll do all right. Mum on the other hand is easy ~ she adores him cos I do. Why can't they all be like that? *smile*

i want..

.. i don't ask for very much. i just really really want some new ballet flats and oh, a pair of $800 cowboy boots that are so hot, they could toast a marshmallow from some alien kid camping on Saturn.

oh my god. can it be true? like really. the love of my life, who i cried over when his gorgeous LCD screen cracked and who made me battle with my maternal instincts when handing him over to the cruel Canon doctors. can it be? Nah!

but how strange, we had an unusually full social weekend and come Monday here I am, with no photographic evidence to speak of! all weekend ~ drinks @ Harts, Lilla's farewell @ Cruise Bar, Ben's birthday @ Clovelly Hotel, dinner at Mel & Cams... ~ and not once did it even occur to me to bring out my little buddy for a few happy snaps.

i'm getting old, forgetful, unloving.

on a lighter note, after some nagging from Jo, i joined Facebook a few weeks back planning to sign up (and shut Jo up) and then neglect the thing. but boy am i addicted.... so if you're on facebook too, find me here.

long weekend!

'Twas a long weekend here in Sydneytown. I think it was everywhere except Perth, you weirdo's! Hehe.. just kidding... kinda *wink* Highlights from my weekend:

~ roti chanai for dinner on friday night in Newtown.. so yum!
~ breakfast in Glebe on Saturday, rainy but
cosy...
~ saw Danny Bhoy @ Sydney Opera House on saturday night! row b. awesome seats, hilarious show... my cheeks still hurt from smiling ear to ear...
~ lunch at Babs' on sunday - Mags is in town for the weekend, got in some good goss with the girls...
~ chilled @ home sunday night with my man, love it.
~ he cooked me sausages & eggs for breakfast on monday... my most favouritest!
~ watched shooter. marky mark cant go wrong!
~ we made hawaiian pizza for dinner *yumm*
~ and it was my brother's 31st birthday! happy birthday!

and in a blink of an eye it's Tuesday again... there won't be another long weekend until the APEC Summit in September where the expected madness caused by George Bush, Dick Cheney and the rest of them has given cause for Sydney CBD to have a public holiday.

It's affectionately known as "Dick Bush Day".

because the weather is oh SO bad..

i was woken up yesterday morning at 4am by the sound of immensely angry thunder. no, apparently 6 pillows do not do anything to muffle the thunder! And it rained torrentially all day, non-stop, plummeting the world with buckets and buckets of wetness. Probably not in the dams though, of course.

today, i was woken up again at 4am, this time by the maddening sound of gale force winds. Holy f**k, like really, can I please just sleep through it???

but there is a silver lining. there is always a silver lining if you allow there to be. because it is so wet, and it is so cold, i get to wear my big big boots to keep me warm and dry! *grin*

the weekend that was

Last saturday night was the hugest saturday night I've had in a while. this could mean i have become enormously boring because this time last year it would have been a miracle for me to be home 1 out of 9 saturdays... Or as i would like to see it, this is testament that i am sticking right by my resolutions this year and being good.

Saturday started with a fondue party held by panu's mum. we had cheese fondue, meat fondue (a first for me!), and ofcourse chocolate fondue for dessert. It goes without saying that my favourite was the chocolate fondue! i managed to put hot chocolate sauce on everything from strawberries to bananas to marshmallows and... even ice cream, which resulted in more of a melted puddle of mush, but hey it was worth a try!

Full of fondue, we headed out to aaron's birthday celebrations @ the Annandale, where Weir was playing live. After the Annandale, we took votes on the next stop but ofcourse were outnumbered by aaron's single vote for the Agin Court... b'day boy, gotta let him win. i had a surprisingly good time at the Agin ~ best rock music i've heard in a while! And at circa 3.30am, we stumbled onto Superbowl for the obligatory late night snack of Pipi's in XO sauce, before heading home and crashing after 4am. Note that aaron, ben & mel partied on....




























Sunday was spent at SkiBarn, checking out ski gear cos yes, i'm coming good on yet another resolution and learning to ski this year!!!
