sleep? what is that?

I don't think I've slept since last Thursday night, and even Thursday wasn't my 8 hours seeing as I was up at 5 to watch the soccer! Sleep is a rarity these days... though the pain is predominently self inflicted, I still think I can feel sorry for myself..

Janice was in town last week. We had a quiet Friday night (sushi & passionflower - who could ask for more?), but Saturday night was insane - we went to Hotel Chambers for a bit of a boogie, and when that shut at 2am (so early!) we headed to Bar Europa and partied on til the sun came up... what a work out!

Sunday I scored. At Babs's house. and not that kinda scored. but I did score a lot.

And yesterday... was COLDPLAY!

apologies for blurry photos but hey, I was dancing ok!

After the concert we headed out to some bar in Paddington to watch the Socceroos. And can I just say,

F**KING BULLSHIT PENALTY

Got home at 5.30am. Slept 2 hours. Hence i don't know what sleep means.

OH. and I have been converted to the world of skinny skinny skinny black jeans. God help me.

Spoil me with good food, please!

I've been working 11 hour days for the last few weeks & commuting interstate. I decided that work needed to reward me with some good food. So yesterday, Natalie & I went to Sushi-e.

Sushi-e is definitely one of my favourite places in Sydney! Check out the lunch menu! I had...

Sashimi
Salt & Pepper Cuttlefish
Tempura Lobster Tail.."marinated and fried, tossed in a delicate soy and lime sauce with baby corn and asparagus"

Are you drooling? Pity I can only afford to go on my work Amex.

Today I'm in Brissie for the day... lunch? Michael's Riverside Restaurant. I ate...

Entree: Trio of prawns, wrapped in kataifi pastry, prawn filled manti and dolmades, on garlic mashed feta

Main: Rosemary crusted lamb noisettes with polenta, spinach and ratatouille and lamb reduction with a garlic brulee

Positively orgasmic.

Don't even want to think about the bill.

And this is gonna turn into a food blog.

post-weekend ramblings..

This weekend has flown by.. it's 4.20pm Sunday afternoon, and in about 4 hours I'm gonna go to bed, so that I can get up at 2am to watch the Socceroos take on Brazil! *wheeee* the chances of them winning isn't all that high, but that's not such a bad thing cos I think if the Socceroos do win, there is no chance I'm sleeping for the rest of the night!

My weekend has been quite full, which is the way I like it..

Friday night...
... was my workmate Con's farewell.. *sad* I've been good friends with Con for 4 years & i don't want him to leave! Oh well, any excuse to have a drink? We started with a few @ work, followed by Luna Lounge @ Jackson's on George (yeh.. classy)... and on to Establishment. It was about an hour after we were at Establishment that we noticed Con wasn't with us... where was he....? Ahh... passed out at Luna Lounge! Good work! Some pre-passing out pics:

Con with... Lilla & Jo...

me with... Lilla and Kerry & Jo..

Saturday...
... i woke up feeling amazingly fresh despite the big Friday night. I went to the gym, did some grocery shopping and whipped up Mel & Cam's dinner for Saturday night - seafood pasta in a chilli, garlic, tomato & cream sauce *mmm*...

Headed over to Mel & Cam's for dinner... Cam was in the doghouse for whatever reason and came home from soccer armed with a beautiful bouquet of flowers... *awwwwww*... so schweeeeet! We had pasta, great bread, strawberries & ice cream, and tea with Coles choc-chip cookies... yummy....!

I would be hungry thinking about all that food except that...

Sunday...
... well I just got back from lunch with Tat, Kate and Eva (sydney Eva) - we were planning a long champagne lunch @ Bungalow 8, but when 3 pulled out - Stef *frown*, Karen *frown*, Babs *frown frown* - we decided to go local and hit Jolly's @ Leichardt - Tat's most favouritest place in the world!

I am stuffed. And so is TAT! Bun in the oven!!! Congratulations Tat & Euge!!

So. It's now 5pm... I'm full & sleepy, no need for dinner.. p'raps a midnight snack whilst watching the soccer....

Oh, Mel curled my hair last night.. and stupid me forgot to take photos of it while I was out today! So here is a silly looking self shot that i just took just then...

Mel & Cam are leaving for Europe this Wednesday... I'm gonna miss them soooo much, i'm such a retard when I'm around Mel, it's a nice safe place to be that way, cos she's just as much of a retard as me. Love ya!!

the surprise, the thrashing, & the bets..

i know my blog has been anything but exciting lately.. that's because my life has been anything but exciting lately! trust me, I'm working on making it better! but here's a go at posting something...

Last weekend i took a surprise trip up to sunny Townsville for my brother's 30th birthday! he was so shocked to see me he went all red - yeh that's his general shock reaction. It was so sweet... we spent some much needed QT together and when I left on Monday, I almost shed a tear. Almost. I'm not much of a cryer.

And we got him a kick ass Spidey cake & grew a Grow-Your-Own-Spiderman in a bottle of Vodka. SO COOL.*

OooOooh.. Queensland won the second State of Origin last night (30-6, bah! Reds reds reds!) so there will be a decider in 3 weeks!

Also, it's World Refugee Day tomorrow. I've been invited to a breakfast @ Westin to celebrate the importance of sport in the life of refugees. I've been doing a tonne of charitable and voluntary things lately... and I wonder why I don't have enough hours in my day! Never mind.. good karma...

* apparently the Grow-Your-Own range (tiny little plastic figurine which when soaked, grows) includes a Grow-Your-Own-Boyfriend. My brother's keen on getting me one. Ok....

paulo coelho, not so crap afterall...

I read Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist some time ago - if you recall my post, i thought the story was far too spiritual and well, full of crap really. which is a big call for me to make - me, who can read anything and watch anything for entertainments' sake!

However, on a friend's insistance, i decided to give Coelho another chance, and bought Eleven Minutes. This book follows the ethical journey of Maria, a young Brazilian girl who travels abroad seeking fame and fortune but falls into prostitution. It delves deeply into taboo topics and notions that I'm sure we all think about, and challenges opinions we all must have. I've just finished Eleven Minutes today. Verdict? I still question Coelho's writing style (but this may have something to do with Spanish translation) however the story is well worth reading...

Today i spent another $25 on Coelho's Veronika Decides to Die. Haven't started reading but the plot sounds interesting... Veronika tries to take her life, but wasn't quite successful - she lies in hospital, the damage to her heart so great that she has only a few days left to live.. and it is during this time that she learns the value of her life...

As you can see I'm moving away from pure commercial trash into books that, while being fiction, can still add value and insight into my life...

goss-less week

it's been a crazy busy week. i'm sitting here, it's 10.20pm and i've just had dinner. this week has been b.o.r.i.n.g. that should have been in capitals but i can't be stuffed holding the shift key down.. ^_^ ...

my routine for the past four days has been: get up, go to work early, working til 8pm or so, and then hitting the gym to unwind my tension. it's been brought to my attention that there are indeed other ways to relieve my tension but in all honesty? i can't be f**ked. Quite literally!

so i'm very sorry but this week has been goss-less. i caught up with dave for a coffee briefly today, but nothing fascinating... and for those of you who live vicariously through me, we're up for a goss-less weekend too - reasons to be devulged later (can't reveal my plans as i don't wanna be the one to screw up a surprise!)...

oooh one remotely exciting thing - i'm going to sushi-e for lunch tomoro! i haven't been there before but have always wanted to... *yay*... food always makes me smile!

i hope everyone has a fabulous and safe long weekend!

noodle? nooudle? noodlle? noolde?

aside from my encounter with the south american man (don't ask), the rest of my weekend was BIG & it was GOOD *ahhh size does matter!* Friday started with a few glasses of red at lunch, followed by a night out @ Arthouse... some pics of me, Lilla, Tom & Sean - who was dj'ing that night.

saturday night was spent in the Red Room @ Hotel Chambers for Emma & Leong's joint 30th - old skool choons!! no photos to speak of, but just as well considering I was in no state to hold my camera and a drink and probably a shot all at the same time! Had a big one, Babs had an even bigger one, crashed at hers, stumbled home Sunday and curled up on my couch feeling utterly sorry for myself....

Sunday night was a cracker tho... went to dinner with Mel & Cam at some semi dodgy viet place.... and check out the menu's - seriously, how many different ways can you spell noodle???

Also it's World Environment Day today, and being part of the Oz Green Living Communities program, I'm actually happy that it is totally pissing down outside...
