last weekend...

Australia Day long weekend ~ i had the most relaxing long weekend ever, no late nights, no partying and lots of sleep.

The weekend began with an awesome catch up with my cousin May Ching, who I'm enormously close to, but haven't seen in years. We started with dinner ~ yummy lobster mornay @ Blue Fish ~ and finished with durian ice cream @ Passionflower, and you've already heard that story!

Friday ~ Oz Day ~ blessed again with superb weather, we checked out The Rocks where there were 5 stages of free music, including awesome local artists such as Alex Lloyd and The Whitlams.

There are always a myriad of things to see & do around Sydney - we enjoyed the music, strolled through markets, stopped for a coffee at a heritage cafe, and wandered through the botanical gardens. As the sun set, we parked ourselves on the steps of the Opera House to watch the tennis on the big Amex screen.

After the match, i was starving, and what better way to satisfy my hunger than with a... cheeseburger. yummmmmm!!!

The rest of the weekend was brilliantly low key. Not to say it was boring at all though. Amongst the highlights were:
  • having my red streaks redone *yay!*
  • devouring the biggest steak sandwich @ Citrus
  • Kirribilli Markets ~ always a favourite!
  • sushi train, cold rock & a romantic stroll around sydney at night... my ideal date!
  • and last but certainly not least - lamb cutlets for dinner on Sunday, with gallons of mint jelly!
  • oh, and did I mention lots of sleep??

my boyfriend

my boyfriend.

there are 2 reasons why i'm calling him my boyfriend now. firstly when i was introducing him to my gay hair colorist last saturday, "my boyfriend" just slipped out! just like that! and i figure if it's slipping out so naturally, why fight it?... right?

secondly, and this is truly a commendable reason, last Thursday night, for me and only
for me, he ate durian. Well ok he ate durian ice cream, but i can 100% vouch that it tastes like real durian. for those who arent familiar with the durian fruit, have a quick squiz at wiki, paying particular attention to the odour
section :

"... its odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. It can be smelled from yards away. Despite its great local popularity, the raw fruit is forbidden from some establishments such as hotels, subways and airports, including public transportation in Southeast Asia."

So, not only did he try it ~ and declared that it tastes like garbage ~ he'd do it again with the real fruit. What a man, that's my boyfriend!

you won't believe this...

... boonga is going to cairns. tomorrow morning! no way! even he looks kinda shocked, doesn't he? *heHe*

he's only going for 6 weeks, but still! he's actually going!

i told him i wont believe he's there until he lands, and calls me from an (07) number...

29 January update ~ yep, the boy is definitely in Cairns. arrived safe & sound on Friday and Virgin lost his luggage as well (bunch of incompetent f**kers aren't they??), but alas, he got his stuff back eventually...

sun, surf and lots of walking

Picture this: Saturday morning, clear blue skies, warm sun & gentle breezes, and kilometers upon kilometers of uninterrupted sunblessed beach-goodness.

On the weekend my man and I decided to do the Coogee to Bondi walk ~ a 6km coastal walk from well, Coogee to Bondi! Or Bondi to Coogee for those playing at home.

The walk takes you past a number of beautiful swimming & snorkeling spots - on my must do list next time are:

Snorkeling at Gordons Bay, a serene little rock bay, completely sheltered from the waves...

... and some sun baking at Clovelly, a narrow beach with man made platforms on each side (and a lap pool for the athletic amongst us).

You also walk past Bronte & Tamarama, but I'm convinced those are the ugly people's beaches, so no photos!

After about 90 minutes, you turn a corner and there lays Bondi, i love Bondi, but never really go there because the parking is $7/hr! Just to park your ass on the beach!

Highway robbery...

But since we walked, I did park my ass. After an hour or so, I was appropriately baked a quaint shade of red, but don't worry, I'm asian. After a day or two I turn sexy brown *wink*

clucky

I've been clucky since the beginning of time. I think when I was about 12, I swore to be married and have 3 children (at least!) by the time I turned 25. Too bad my life didn't quite turn out that way.

So I have to share in the gloriously beautiful & pure light of my friends' babies instead ~ last night I visited Tat, Euge and their teeeeeny newborn son, Lucas. Precious would be an understatement. He is perfect.

a bit of egg & a bit of jazz

Cam turned a big fat 3-0 last week and we celebrated in style (.... not!) at Shinju Teppanyaki Restaurant. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of Teppanyaki dining, well firstly, you dont wear your best clothes. The chefs have a tendency of throwing the food at you, and if you have my level of hand-eye coordination skills, you'll end up wearing you food! Amongst other things, I was egged (raw, yolky.. blergh!) and riced, and smelled like rotten poo all night!

The usual end result of a Teppanyaki night is a half full belly, stinky clothes, and oh, watch out for the mountains of food on the floor and walls!

*mmmmmmm yummy!*

Saturday was spent in a far more civilised way. My boyfriend and I had breakfast @ Manly, followed by a beautiful night of music & culture at Sydney Festival's Jazz in the Domain.

The weather, which looked suspicious all day, cleared into an orange sunset, the perfect romantic backdrop ~ as romantic as it can get anyway, with me & 16 mates there, huddled amongst the thousands of other patrons ~ for the super sexy Brazillian tunes.

resolutions

there is a little blue book at Maz & Ita's house, which holds all of our resolutions for 2007. That's right, not only did we have to have resolutions (or in my case more like a "to do" list), we had to articulate them, put them in writing for the world to see, and sign off in blood! Ok, so we didn't sign off in blood, but we did have to sign them, and we will reflect in just under 12 months.

So what do I want to achieve in 2007?

1. Get a tattoo.
2. Go sky diving.
3. Learn to ski.
4. Be good.

My first 3 resolutions are pretty self explanatory. Numero quattro can be left to your interpretation, but I know what I need to do.

My resolutions are boring compared to the others. Amongst them, my favourites were :

"Have more sex outside of the bedroom" - person shall remain anonymous.
"Go to Cairns!" - gee, i wonder whose this is.

anyway, resolutions schmesolutions. I just hope everyone lives & loves in 2007!

my brother loves me...

... and i love my brother... for lots of reasons. cos he looks after me, he thinks i'm a good egg, and tho he doesn't like me being a scrambled egg, he allows me to be. cos i gotta learn for myself *heHe*

and when f**king incompetent Virgin Blue lost my luggage & all my clothes & goodies in it, my brother came to my rescue and said "here's some dosh. go replace your stuff!"

so i have. amongst the stuff he bought me are :

my new cossies which cost me a heap but i love!.. and that's obviously not me in the photo...

my new skinny Lee jeans, which are size 6 baby!!

a replacement Stanton Warriors album ~ he knew how I loved them!

new heels to replace the brand new ones I lost...
... and lots of other goodies!

i was so sad, especially around the happy season, but his kindness really made Christmas all that much better for me. thank you.

oh, the pain!

the alarm went off at 7am today and i so wanted to hurl my phone at the wall. when my leave began 2 weeks ago, i would wake up naturally at 7am wide eyed and eager to start the day. so why is it that just as i'm getting accustomed to sleeping in, my holidays have to come to an end?! Urgh! Painful!

Anyway, massively retaliating against productivity today, I've cleaned up my whole My Docs folder (wasted about 90 minutes!), loaded some stuff onto iTunes, cleaned up my iTunes... and now I have nothing to do. Oh yeh, some NYE pics!

In other ground breaking Cat News, it is less than 4 weeks til I'm off to Hong Kong! And upon my return from Hong Kong, I'm becoming more cultured by attending my first ever opera @ Sydney Opera House - The Marriage Of Figaro.

I'm excited!!
