the shopping man
ok, seeing as I just posted about panu's new love for cooking, i'm now in deep fear that an alien has abducted my boyfriend and replaced him with every woman's dream man. So really, fear yes, complain no.
reason i say this is because yesterday, panu added a significant asset to my current register. he bought me... my very first Burberry Trench Coat. I call this an asset because seriously, in some countries, you can totally buy a house with that coat. Hell, you could probably buy a small country somewhere! but anyway, he offered to buy it, I almost objected, almost, but immediately came to my senses and just accepted gratefully!
Everyone's asking why he bought me the coat - was it my birthday? no... was it a special occasion? no... is he feeling guilty....? well i hope not! I think it was really because I have been painfully, tearfully longing for this coat for the better part of the last year and haven't been able to justify buying it for myself. And yesterday we went to Burberry on New Bond Street and I stupidly tried on the coat, and fell so massively stupefyingly in love all over again.I wanted to buy it, but decided not to and I was in so much angst walking out of the store that really, you would have thought that I'd just said goodbye to my child or something. He couldn't take it, and herewith, proposed to buy me the jacket. Hey, this proposal was as good as the other one might have been. I promise!
So now I am the proud owner of the new Burberry trench and I love it. I woke up this morning and said good morning to it. Sad, but true.
Whatever the aliens have done, I love it!

all tech'd up!
Wow it's been 5 days since my last post? This week has passed in tedium, but at least it has flown. I can't believe it's Friday, but surely not unappreciating the fact. It's been one of those weeks where one day blurs into the next effortlessly, which again, is appreciated.
I know though that I've spent way more than my allocated weekly allowance this week. My week's shopping list looked a little like...
1. Bose iPod Dock ~ the music quality of our little apartment just improved by about two billion times (i exaggerate you not!). Assisted by the natural acoustics of being in the basement, with wood flooring throughout, i cannot even begin to express how awesome this system is.
2. Samsung NC10 netbook ~ oh yes people, netbook, not notebook. for those who aren't in the know, netbooks are the product of what would happen if two small notebooks got together and fornicated. these are baby tiny little laptops, mine's 10.2" and weighing in at only 1.3kgs. My new toy!3. Sennheiser earphones ~ because my toxic ear sweat continuously destroys any ear phone that I have, I thought i'd invest in a good sturdy sports pair. Enter, Sennheiser. This purchase was a bummer though because my ears are so miniscule, they don't fit properly and fall off when I run. Back to the drawing board.
4. Pressies ~ pressies for friends and babies back home in Oz. This I can't elaborate on, because they read this exact blog... so... i can say that i am proud of the pressies though, gee I did a good job!
In other news, I am still morbidly in love with Edward Cullen (I know, even I'm getting sick of this obsession), and am reading New Moon. I dont want to ruin it for anyone else about to read it, but ok, there is just too much Jacob and not enough Edward! Come on!
Incidentally, I watched a few youtube clips of interviews with Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in the movie. He does nothing for me at all. I really mean at all. In fact I found him somewhat irritating. He giggles! Edward broods. Give me the brooding vampire any day.Guess that confirms that I should just head back to my early adolecense then and continue having a schoolgirl crush on a completely fictional character.

junkfood
Panu would argue that more often than not, I wear my food. He claims he can't take me out in public because I end up with food on my lap, my chest, my face and my hair. I dont know how, to be honest, because believe me when I say I really wanted that food in my mouth!
And so when I stumbled across JunkFood in NYC, I knew it was a match made in heaven!

These guys design the funkiest tees, and the website really does no justice to the available range. I loved them instantly and bought three, and right now wishing I had bought at least 3 more. Better still, they are non-iron! And this is a big call, coming from me, the woman who irons everything.
While JunkFood is also available in the UK at Urban Outfitters, they cost about twice as much here, so stock up while in the States guys!

on trend... finally!
so i'm what's known as a fashion laggard. a new trend comes in, i usually think it's hideous, i can't believe people are wearing skinny jeans/boho-schick/huge handbags! And then two seasons later, suddenly I don't seem to think that <insert trend> are actually so terrible. In fact, I go buy one.. and finally, as the trend fades out, i'm in.
BUT! I picked up this week's edition of Grazia yesterday and guess what's in? Be-jewelled flats! Perfect for sprucing up your day time outfit and cruising straight onto the evening. Funky, classy, comfortable ~ the perfect shoe!

shoot me now
now, i have always objected to crocs. i mean, seriously, people wear these things out?? Panu had a pair of crocs, and i almost didn't go out with him because of them. I made him banish them to the balcony, and then to the bin because really, are they not the most un-sexiest things ever??
then two days ago, Quyen, Ying and Tiff (Queenslanders, need I say more? *wink*), were on facebook endorsing the crocs' supposedly ridiculous comfort factor, in fact, according to Quyen, way more comfortable than Uggs. No Fucking Way. I love my Uggs.. and not just any uggs, i have the superhero of all Uggs, an indestructable heavy-duty outdoor Ugg. and I am loyal.
Until I jumped on the croc website, because, I don't know why, I was seized by a moment of terrifying insanity? I checked out the 'clogs' and thank God, i still think they are hideous, but then..... then I saw the Nadia (kids size, khaki) and oh my god, SHOOT ME. I thought they were cute!... and they were cheap!
... and i couldn't help myself...
... i ordered a pair.... *sigh*
... so now will you shoot me? Please?

a good Sunday
its 8.45pm and I am sitting here sat-is-fied. it's been one of those days where you actually look at life and realise it's not always big and scary. there are days when you do feel blessed and actually happy to be breathing the air around you, albeit London air... but! today is not about whinging.
we got up at 9am, surprisingly fit and fighting after several tequila shots and cocktails at Tammy & Owen's farewell last night. the sun was shining (no I'm not being a comedian) and it was warm. I realise that when I say "warm" these days, I could be referring to all of 18 degrees... but today was 26. 26! tanktop, skirt and flipflops on, we headed out for breakfast at Paul. After a chausson pommes and tea, Panu headed home to study and I headed off on the big Handbag Hunt.
Handbags. those who know me know I've never really been into handbags. I use something that looks ok to me, is practical and not too pricey. My heart never skipped a beat at the first sight of the latest LV, for example, and I sure never missed any sleep over not having one. But recent days have had me thinking that as I creep up on the big three-oh, do I need a more serious handbag?
well, the short answer is yes. and it doesn't help that since being in London, I've suffered from handbag envy at the mercy of my friends who have been to Italy and come back with beautiful arm candy (not of the male variety). I'm still waiting for my own trip to the land of gorgeous handbags to commit to something uber stylish, so in the mean time I decided to hit Selfridges & Co and buy myself a beautiful but afforable handbag. My new baby? a DKNY Town & Country Shoulder Tote. OoOoooo I loooove it!
and what else could possibly make my day better? how about a pair of shoes! *nod nod* meandering around Topshop supposedly looking for a belt, i accidentally wandered into the Shoe Lounge and *oops* bought a new pair of the cutest Mary Janes. Basking in the glow of my new accessories, i then accidentally fell into Nails Inc. and into a pedicure *double oops!*
shopping is hard work. 2pm and I am starving! but oh, how uncool to dine alone. With one phone call, my well behaved boyfriend is once again at my side, enjoying lunch on Carnaby Street's C'est Ici, where I had the most delicious smoothie ever ~ Melon Elixir ~ who knows what's in it... who cares??
after lunch I was genuinely tired, so we wandered home slowly... for a siesta.
who could complain?

new heels baby!
Somewhere between Sushi Train and the bus stop last night, I bought a new pair of shoes! Aren't they cute?! Tony Bianco peep toe heels ~ love them! I'd been eyeing off the peep toe cork heels for a while but it seems like everyone's got them, so this is a little different... yay to new shoes! *hehe*
