new heels baby!

Somewhere between Sushi Train and the bus stop last night, I bought a new pair of shoes! Aren't they cute?! Tony Bianco peep toe heels ~ love them! I'd been eyeing off the peep toe cork heels for a while but it seems like everyone's got them, so this is a little different... yay to new shoes! *hehe*

big fat weekend blog..

another weekend gone and more lack of sleep! it's fine, i'm not whinging, self inflicted lack of sleep is not to be pitied.

Friday ~

Friday night was quiet, headed home after a drink at work and watched Sympathy for Mr Vengeance - some bizarro Korean movie. Mel & I decided lazing around just wasn't constructive so at about 10pm we headed out for some gelato - as you do - at Gelatomassi!

Best thing about Newtown? No one cares if you traipse down King Street in your jammies. I cheated though - my jammies that night had glow-in-the-dark stars all over them, so i changed into jeans hehe.. sorry mel!

Saturday ~

Geno arrived bright and early Saturday morning and took me out for a big fat brekky @ Orange Peel in Balmain. I had the Turkish Delight, which consisted of smoked salmon, avocado and poached eggs on turkish toast.... yummmmmmmm... the big breakfast was a necessity on Saturday morning because we were on a mission to find a stockist for Reese's Peanutbutter Cups and Reese's Butterfingers in Sydney...

And FIND WE DID!

We had to trek all the way to Rockdale (drove past my old place, memories..) and find an obscure little 'asian mini mart' but we did it and stocked up we are! Been doing a daily stocktake with Geno though, and although he bought a lot.. this morning's stocktake rested at 1 remaining buttercup. Geno-monster eats a lot.

After chocolate shopping we met up with boonga and did the car shopping thing.. i looked at lots of WRX's, poked around a bit... found a hot pink one that i thought was kinda cool, but i don't think he liked that one. Ah well...

Later that evening, boonga, cam, mel & i had dinner at this gorgeous quaint little French restaurant called Tabou. i had a minor disaster though - literally 30 seconds before I was due to be picked up, spastic me poured water all over my top rendering it unwearable.. and i had to CHANGE!! Seriously, only the dudettes who read this blog will understand how flustering a last minute unplanned outfit change can be. I had no backups, threw on a top and had no matching jewellery! Argghhhh....

After dinner we met up with Parham and his new ladyfriend @ Kuleto's in Newtown and when it was time to call it a night, boonga stupidly said to me "hey, do you wanna go to Laundry?".... and I must have stupidly replied "uhh ok!".... cos at 2am, where are we? Bouncing away amongst the dodgiest crowd in Sydney.. *wheeee*....

Stumbled home at about 5am.. (which is really early considering our last few weekends...).. and stayed up having the most intriguing d&m...

Sunday ~

the d&m continued as the sun came up... and then it was time to sleep! ZzZzzzzZZZzzz... on and off until dinner time when I rushed out again to Balmain, where my friend Geoff's band was playing @ Bald Rock Hotel. Nevermind that I was late and actually missed his set... I had a great catchup with him, Betsy, Chris and other work peepz... mosied on home at about 9pm and crawled into bed.

What a weekend...

So - now I'm ready for back to back raves this coming weekend!! I say BRING IT ON!!!

belated b'day post..

Last Saturday it was Babs' birthday ~ Happy Birthday!! She had a pretty quiet one, but I managed to drag her out to lunch on Friday @ The Rocks Cafe, and also threw a not-so-surprise surprise party for her at work on Monday...

clarity

I'm over it...

it's unbelievably amazing how lack of sleep and the abuse of certain substances affect the way we feel and think. mid last week i was bottom-of-the-barrel sad. more than that even, more like scum-under-the-mud-under-the-mould-under-the-bottom-of-the-barrel sad, with a side of borderline suicidal. but as the week wore on i started to look at myself more and more with one raised eyebrow thinking "cat, dude, get a grip!"

this whole week i've been gymming, and i've been sleeping so well - more than my 8hr quota - and my perspective is all the better for it. Being the creature of habit that I am, last week's crazy rocking of the boat threw me so offguard I lost more than my bearings.

so i've had a loooong talk to myself and yes, i'm over it! life is back to normal and here i sit, with my daily lunch from Brew, my daily V8 juice, my jelly belly machine churning out bizarro random flavours... and my head and heart, safely locked where they need to be.

clarity is a Godsend.

did someone pray for clarity to come my way? ying??

birthday celebration # 6 - out with a BANG!

I knew Saturday night was going to be massive. But I didn't expect it to be quite this huge. Drinks @ White Horse was fantastic - so many people showed up *thank you!!* and after a million Chambords, we stumbled onto Tank.

Tank had to close at some stage and when it did, we somehow made it back to Mariano's ~ surprisingly all in one piece considering Geno almost drove off with boonga half in the car. The night dragged on into daylight, and the wise ones amongst us (Ita, Daniel, Yianni) actually went to sleep...

At some point someone suggested we should go to karaoke! Brilliant! And then for some bizarre reason Geno challenged Boonga, Mariano & I to a "stay awake" challenge, and then promptly fell asleep. This must have been about 2pm...

I, being of the many-stubbornness breed, soldiered on and watched the flies drop off... Maz made it to maybe 4pm... boonga and I decided we'd overstayed and went home.. and he dozed off at 6. I made it until.... monday.

Goddamn. Never again. Happy 27th Cat.

birthday celebration # 5

Last Friday's celebrations began with a nice prologue ~ Tania & Nat treated me to lunch @ Sailor's Thai, followed by none other than creme brulee @ La Renaissance... I ate til I was stuffed and rushed home to pretty myself up for the real celebrations that night!

Boonga came by at 6pm on the dot and delivered my "Liquid" themed birthday presents. So cute & funky...

We had dinner @ Spice I Am in Surry Hills ~ probably the best Thai food I've ever had, try the green papaya salad.. and be prepared to sweat. After dinner, it was time for.... Varekai!

We had kick ass seats (4 rows from the stage) and were able to appreciate all the unbelievable detail. My jaw was dropped and I didn't blink at all - and that was before the hot twin brothers came out! Muscles, more muscles, super flexible... muscles... *drool*

There's really not much else I can say except that I LOVED the show, and having a fat dude on my left and a fat chick on boonga's right meant we were squished against each other the whole time!

Happy Birthday to us!

random thoughts for a friday...

  1. a rude old asian woman pushed a blind guy (with an oh-so-cute guide dog no less) aside on the bus last night to get to the last free seat. At times like these, I am so ashamed to be asian.
  2. Miami Vice is officially the worst movie I've ever seen! Ever. Not exagerrating. And those who know me know I am the most softest movie critic in the universe. What the F is with Gong Li's crazy Chinese-American-Spanish accent??
  3. I went to bed at 10pm last night, and woke up at 11pm feeling as though I'd slept soundly for hours. And realised I had another 7 to go! Don't you love that??
  4. No sleeps til Cirque Du Soleil!! Been counting the days since I bought my tickets in May.. took me 4 months to get a date, but I finally got one...
  5. Is it seriously this cold?! It's mid September dammit!

happy birthday cat!

Flowers flowers galore! Why don't people sign cards?? Trying to figure out who sent me these gorgeous flowers today almost did my head in but it's all good... thank you YINGA...

I miss you so much!!

Now I'm ready for my celebrations tonight - ice cream for dinner!!

It's my birthday, I can do what I want!

Thank you to everyone for all the kind birthday wishes... I feel so loved.

Special thank you's and mutual "happy birthday!" to Justin, Drew, Nigel & Boonga... today is a special day indeed!

birthday celebrations # 1 # 2 and # 3!

To make up for my incredible deprivation of birthday parties when I was young (yep, I never had one ever, til I was um... 23?) i've decided to celebrate a squillion times this year! ok maybe not a squillion. maybe 5. or 6!

birthday celebration # 1

Last Friday the weather absolutely glorious - the first day of spring hit us with 27 degrees of sunshine and we were dying to go outside and play! So really, I was used as an excuse to dine down at the Opera Bar, charging all expenses to work cos well, obviously we were out celebrating my birthday!
All at the same time now: "thank you Dimension Data..."

no pics. I was with a bunch of Australian folk ok.. can't be too embarassingly asian!

birthday celebration # 2

This was just meant to be breakfast (breakfast at 1pm is still breakfast right?) but i think Bill's ricotta hotcakes is a cause for celebration so I'm claiming it!

Whilst at Bill's, Babs called and left the most obscure message, leading Mel & I to believe (well, we make a lot of shit up) that she was gonna gimme a puppy for my birthday. And we would call him Milo.

We are soooo fulloshit.

"touch my hotcakes and I will stab your eyes out"

birthday celebration # 3

The much anticipated dinner @ Libertine!

This funky restaurant markets itself as French/Vietnamese, but really, it looked Moroccan.. and as Cam pointed out, there were no French/ Vietnamese hottie waitresses around. Nevertheless, the food was scrumptious and the atmosphere was.. well, Moroccan!

Girls and their desserts....
